One mans trash is another mans treasure...The last 2 days I have - TopicsExpress

One mans trash is another mans treasure...The last 2 days I have been clearing out my garage and my house of what I consider to be junk. Today is my second day going to a dumping site with a bakkie load of what I consider remnants of stuff. Thobile organized our painter, uMkhulu, to help. This morning uMkhulu convinces me to go to a land fill site in Marrianhill. After the not so pleasant experience at the Springfield dumping site yesterday, I agreed. On our way there he convinces me to turn left as I had given him Thobiles shoes so that he can leave them close to his home. After a quick call and getting consent from Thobile I go ahead as directed. We drove into an area called Etyeni Elimnyama. I must admit I was a bit nervous. After what felt to me like a long drive, I was directed to a small yard. To my surprise and strong protest, the whole load of stuff was off loaded, everything that I consider to be rubbish! Umkhulu made a quick excited call to his family to come down and collect impahla. I wanted to hide I was so embarrassed - Madam from Cowies Hill degrading our people - this is what I was thinking. I told Mkhulu as much. He apologized and explained to me how the rusted sink, the broken sliding door, the old Hoover and heater etc will all earn him good money at the scrap yard. He continued to say: you see those big windows (the old sliding doors), I have a broken glass window at home, my wife will be very happy that I now have something big enough to fix it. YESU! A text book case of multiple realities! I relented and allowed him and his family to do what they needed to do. When he was done and he was certain that his goods were safe, he said, Thank you very much! I just smiled. On our drive back to Cowies Hill I asked him how much it costs him to get to our house every morning when we call him? He tells me that he walks 1:15 minutes from his house to Pinetown to save 10 rand, then takes he a taxi that costs him 7 rand to get into Cowies Hill. I was immediately reminded of how much I enjoy my 1:15 minute walks, 4 times a week because I choose to walk to keep fit, Mkhulu walks to get to work (etorhweni). My ah ha! moment: Madam count your blessings every single day. There is always somebody out there praying even just to have your junk, your stuff. Menzi reminded me of this saying just the other day; another mans junk is another mans treasure.!Father Thank You very much for my BLESSINGS. I have everything I need. Thank you for reminding me that we are blessed to be a blessing to others. We are blessed not to give away junk or stuff, giving away because of our overflow, but to give away what your people need. Holy Spirit please save me from my Madam tendencies and whisper in my ear Mkhulus needs, before I expose my ignorance to other people and make a fool of myself!!! AMEN.
