One meets the strangest people on the train, Darlings. A lady sitting opposite the Duchess (no, I dont have my own private car yet, petitions notwithstanding) spent a full ten minutes applying make-up to one eye. I was rather intrigued, because it was the very smoky eye look, which I have never been able to pull off without looking like a panda. Anyhow, having rather expertly completed one eye, I thought, she packed her make-up away. So, sensing a fellow memory-impaired sufferer, and wishing to prevent the inevitable embarrassment on her part, the Duchess quietly reminded her that she had not made up her other eye. Guess what she said, Darlings? She said I know!, and smiled. She got off at the last station. I can only think she is a pirate, and left her patch at home....
