One more reason why we are where we are and the rest of the world are where they are: Towards supporting his Alma mater, Frank H. McCourt donated the sum of U.S.$100 million towards the setting up of an institute Georgetown University. This is how great (academic) institutions with world class facilities get developed. This donation follows an earlier U.S.$350 million donation by Michael Bloomberg to Johns Hopkins University in January 2013. In our clime, persons with minute percentages of the sums quoted above, will rather than support existing institutions, rush to establish mushroom universities, populated with third rate faculties, in the process institutionalizing quackery. The spurious origins of the wealth which founds our private tertiary institutions coupled with the profiteering motive of the characters who establish them, goes to further seal the ignoble fate of tertiary education, and invariably likelihood of using the thought process to climb out of our abyss, of our contraption.
