One more shameful incident at Bangalore. As usual the other parents will do Dharna at the school gate for a day . Shout slogans. Get TV coverage of their nice designer Kurthas.....talk HD CCTV cameras......after that? The child and its family live in eternal trauma.all others will be off to watch next Sharukhan horror film. There could be many solutions to this obnoxious problem. I can recommend one. Premise 1. The schools are sheer service providers and nothing more for the money you throw-in. 2. The relationship between the school and the parent is same as the parents relationship with any shopping mall. 3. There is no free service rendered at the school and hence the schools activities can be monitored physically by the parents. Its the right of every parent. 4. This CCTV is a hogwash. It cannot prevent a crime. There is no substitute to personal monitoring. How many parents would like the world to watch their kids getting molested? Action 1. Get the PTA registered as non-profit organization for each school. (I think in US there is already a practice ) 2. Every parent becomes an automatic member and pays a subscription that the school has the responsibility to collect. 3. The School management must provide the background of all teachers and staff to PTA. The staff and teachers background is not just the property of the school but all registered PTAs. 4. The appointment of every new staff is subject to clearance by PTA. 5. PTA must provide a list of volunteering parents to supervise the school functioning for 200 days of the year. 6. Assuming the school has 3000 children there must be atleast 1000 volunteers . Two will come to school everyday and spend the full day at school. 7. The parent volunteers upload their comments on PTA website about safety , cleanliness of the school everyday. 8. Government must go in for school license renewal every year. The PTA consent should be made mandatory. Any school refusing the PTA structure will lose its license for one year during which they cannot admit any children. 9. Any school with proven crimes should be banned for 3 years from admitting any child. They will not be allowed to increase the fee for the existing children.
