One more time... Rules. ****12.25.14 - THE CONTEST… Opens at tonight at 11pm! You will post the video in the comment section of the Contest thread. Rules. * So here’s what what I’m thinking…. The pedal will be like the Smythe Trophy (the NHL trophy that gets passed around to each year’s champion). The winner will receive the pedal until the next contest. Once we have another contest and winner, the current owner must ship it to the next winner. This will be the format. It’s about sharing this with as many players as possible, taking pictures of every board it appears on, enjoying it, and passing it on. There will be a handwritten letter signed by me and the next owner will sign it when shipping it to the next winner and so on… Obviously there is a bit of trust involved here. It would be fun to see the pedal travel the country with different players, taking a pic of it on their board, getting to enjoy it and sign the letter for the next player to repeat the process. How cool would it be if 20 or 30 players followed suit?? Anyway, that’s the format. Please use it with love and take good care of it so someone else can have the chance as well. Any and all participants in any contest should agree to these terms with a virtual pinky shake. As far as the first contest, here’s the requirements… 1) a two minute or less video recording of the player performing an original idea. 2) instrumental composition or solo. 3) judging will be by the community as a whole. 4) strongest original concept regardless of skill level and all styles welcome. A thread will be posted the day after Christmas (Tonight at 11pm) for people to post their entry. Another will be posted on Sunday the 27th, to vote for who you believe captured the spirit of the contest the best. You have my word that there will no slamming anyone’s entry. Again, original concept is the theme. It will be held with the spirit of gamesmanship and good will. *** Oh yeah, a lil’ monkey wrench… Since the prize is an effect pedal, the catch is, there will be NO EFFECTS used on the piece being played. NONE. Clean sound electric or an acoustic only! Live performance on video (smart phone, laptop, video cam,etc…). Who will be the first winner??? Each contest will have a different theme so if this isn’t for you, wait until the next one. If this is something you think you can do, then start working on your piece.
