One morning about a year ago, I received an email from Indianas Dept of Child Services congratulating Al and I on receiving our Foster Parent License. I immediately called my Hubby...... Me: We got our License, were official Foster Parents Him: Oh Great, Thank God that process is over!!!! Me: What do you mean OVER?, Its just beginning, what are we going to do if they call with a child? (Ok now I am in full freak out mode with that high panicked voice) Him: What do you mean, I thought thats what you wanted??? Me: Well of course, thats what I want but dont they know how old I am? MY GOD, we dont even have macaroni and cheese or chicken nuggets in the house. What were you thinking, letting me do this??! Him: Its ok, Their not going to call, do you know how many young people out there want babies? & the Social Workers already know them, so we are probably way down on the list. Its probably going to be 6 months at least. Me: Ok, ok, ok youre right. Im going to work. At 4:38 that afternoon while Im driving home from Allegius Credit Union In Burns Harbor, before another snow storm hits, my phone rings.....I always answer, Hi, this is Lynn Ogan Her: Hi Mrs. Ogan, this is Linda from DCS, are you ready to get your feet wet???? (long pause, deep breathe, oh shit.......) Me: Is it too late to say you have the wrong number? Her: Yes it is. (She laughs) I remember you help people get their financing for their own homes and we just got a 2 month old baby girl who is HOMELESS and I immediately thought of you Holy shit!!!!! (Tear were flowing then as they are now), GOD SENT ME A HOMELESS CHILD!!!!!! ok, gtg, More tomorrow, I have to start cleaning. Love you all.
