One of Brenners biggest reasons for his success walking around - TopicsExpress

One of Brenners biggest reasons for his success walking around town...I have been an advocate for him & not allowed one person to touch him. He gets nice ear & head scratches & good boys from me when hes being good, doesnt need it from anyone else. I very rarely have anyone touch the training dogs. Brenner is starting to trust me that I have his back when we are out & about. And yesterday we were approached by all kinds & because everyone left Brenner alone & talked to me...not one outburst. I want Brenner to be indifferent to his surroundings & just be a dog going for a walk around town. Some dogs, such as Brenner feel very threatened & challenged when people do not properly approach them. Im constantly approached when I have the dogs out & about, which is great when done properly! But its not so great when people come right towards the dogs in a high pitched baby voice & go to pet without even asking. The one person Brenner had issues with would approach coming in right towards Brenner talking to him. Immediately Brenner reacts. As soon as they ignored Brenner...all was good. I know for many (ahem Mrs. LV) that it is very hard to ignore the dogs. This is about the dogs, not us, so do whats best for the them. So heres my PSA...ignore the dog. Talk to the owners, not the dog :)
