One of CAMRAs major campaigns for 2015 is to change planning laws so that pub owners cannot demolish or change the use of the premises without permission. At present, pubs can be torn out of the heart of their community at the whim of a pubco owner with no interest in the area or in the trade, and without local people or local councils having any say in the matter. The all-party Parliamentary Save the Pub Group has tabled amendments to ensure that pubs can only be turned into supermarkets (currently happening at a rate of 2 per week), or hairdressers, or takeaways, or demolished, with out the opportunity for local people to object and local councils to decide on the matter. morningadvertiser.co.uk/General-News/MPs-seek-to-end-pub-planning-rights-scandal
