One of Latimores top classic hits of the 70s, and one of my most - TopicsExpress

One of Latimores top classic hits of the 70s, and one of my most favorite songs ever made by him. Somethin Bout Cha is the second of seven tracks off the 1976 studio album, It Aint Where You Been...(Its Where Youre Goin). This song was later reprised on his 1993 album Catchin Up, and that newer version I first heard back in 1994 when I first entered my middle school years. I love both versions of this song, but the original classic version I never heard until 2003 when I first listened to it on the 1995 compilation, Straighten It Out: The Best Of Latimore. This track definitely has the raw, epic Afrocentric sound of the soulful and funky soundtrack music played in the 70s blaxploitation and soul cinema films, like all that the screen legends like William Marshall or Fred Williamson, or Jim Brown, or Vonetta McGee, or Pam Grier were all starring in back in that era. The rhythms are Afrocentrically funky with congas, jazzy horns in the background and electric piano. Takes me all the way back to the days when I used to watch blaxploitation/soul cinema movies on VHS, long before the days of digital and surround-sound came in. Definitely an essential part of my earlier youth back home in Denver, Colorado.
