Don’t put me down as that, for god’s sake, I’m no bloody hero.” Leopold (Bill) de Saxe. Leopold, a teller at the Bank of NSW, enlisted on 17.08.1914, just days after the declaration of war. He landed in Gallipoli 99years ago today and fought there until his evacuation on the night of 19/20 November, 1915.
