One of my “Beauty with a Purpose” projects is working closely with the “Gibraltar Alzheimer’s and Dementia Society”. My granny was recently diagnosed and this has greatly affected my family. The hardest part was to accept her condition in order to help her through this obstacle she is going through. As for without our grandparents we would be here today. The charity helps patients as well as family members and careers to cope better with the ordeal of watching they loved ones slip into dementia. Dementia is a disease and not an inevitable consequence of ageing. A better understand of dementia is required in order to reduce the stigmas associated with this disease. I set myself a target of £5000 to raise for my chosen charity. I can proudly say that I have met this target! I organized different events to help me reach this aim. Some of the events I hosted were as follows; a fundraising and awareness day, a 102km relay run 5 RGP officers and myself completed from Ronda to Gibraltar and lastly I did a sky dive which was 15000ft in Sevilla. I am so pleased to have raised so much money in such a short space of time. However, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who kindly donated and helped me raise the £5000.
