One of my FB friends - a Bahamian who lives abroad - asked the other day if politics and religion was all we Bahamians had to worry about. The answer is yes, of course. We have precious little going on in this country to occupy our minds or truly stimulate us in a mature, enriching fashion. Ill tell you the G-Ds truth, I am bored out of my friggin mind most of the time. Id love to go on a drive into the mountains, or simply drive to some amusement park, or even go to see a movie in a nice theater with a big screen, or attend an open air concert, etc. You might ask, well what about the beach, Billy? The beach is nice, but when you work in 90 degree temps and equally high humidity all week, the last place you want to go is back out in that hellish environment. Ive said it before, and Ill say it again, if it werent for the fact that I royally screwed up my own life - financially speaking - I would likely have moved to another country by now, because I get bored very easily and I really and truly believe that my country has reached its zenith in development. I dont think Bahamians are capable of reaching any higher than we are right now. And those of us who might be able to reach, are all burned out. I am. Every so often I get the urge to actually do something to try to bring about change in my country, but that urge soon escapes me. Really and truly, what is the bloody point? So, at present, the best I am hoping for is to live until I die. I mean exist.
