One of my client had bought a Ward level plan from a local insurer - TopicsExpress

One of my client had bought a Ward level plan from a local insurer for her daughter. The premium they paid is about HKD 2500. His recent claims experience had made him realize why it is so important to look at the coverage rather than just the premium. He brought his daughter to see the Pediatrician Professor Leung. He had then admitted his daughter to Canossa Hospital. At the time of admission, there were no childrens ward available and they only have Private rooms available. His daughter had admitted to the hospital x 7 days. The total bill cost is around HKD 80000. As his level of coverage for his insurance was in the ward level, although he had also bought the supplementary major medical benefit in which can normally reimburse 80% of the claims when the basic plan had been exhausted. Since his daughter was admitted to the Private room.... they were only reimbursed for 25% of the 80% reimbursement. The final reimbursed amount was around HKD 28000. The un-reimbursed amount is HKD 55000. Is it really worth to save the premium and pay the HKD 55000? If the Premium is the only factor that you are looking at, perhaps, you should really review again!
