One of my clients had their Google services broken into to. I highly recommend a password that is a compound word/phrase. Like freeAsinfreebeer. It is a matter of debate but numbers and symbols dont matter much to bots. They are fast digital monkeys trying to type the six digit Shakespearian masterpiece that is your password, easy enough to add numbers caps and symbols to the game. Length does matter however. It clearly delays the process if it doesnt break the bots programming and criminal resolve. Two-factor authentication is an excellent defense as well, where you get a txt message with a PIN code when you login on a new device. Something you know and something you have is a good motto. If you wanna get fancy, try the Google Authenticator app for iOS or Android instead of txt PINs. Just some friendly advice. I use two-factor on Facebook as well, that gets attacked more than my Google stuff. Way more. Mostly Eastern Europeans for some reason. I could write ten pages on protecting your everyday cell phone and computer security stuff. Just imagine what its like for businesses. So yes I do some business security consulting here and there. You can hire me for an audit if you like.
