One of my clients yesterday told me yesterday that someone approached her at her gym and asked her what she was training for? Confused she asked what she meant... Well women dont train like that!! But what was she doing... Well she was doing some strength training, heavy deadlifts and squats. Is it frowned upon by other women? If women shouldnt train like that what should they train like? The traditional walk while holding onto the treadmill for an hour (men also guilty of this too) In my opinion women should be including loads more strength training on their programme!! Girls need strength too its not just for the men!!! Ive heard some silly trainer in America not gonna name names but she says that women shouldnt lift over 3lbs!!! Are you fcking kidding me!!! How heavy does a child get? Im pretty sure its over 3lb!!! How often do they want to be carried? I know from personal experience its all the time!!! Especially after they watch toy story and youre galloping down a Spanish high street with them on your shoulders while being shouted... run like the wind bullseye For miles upon end... Its tiring!!! How heavy are womens handbags? Over 3lbs I bet!! Womens handbags are heavier than most dumbbells at the gym!! If done with correct techniques all women should be deadlifting and squatting heavy. Only yesterday I saw my friend Hayley doing sets of 3 heavy 80kg deadlifts and first thing I thought was fair play. Thats how you train!!! So if youre not including heavy squats and deadlifts in your programme why not? Start learning how to do it properly, build up confidence and start getting them sets of 5 x 5 in ( Thats 5 sets of 5 reps) Girls.. Get lifting
