One of my constituents identified the above link to me and expressed his concern that our recent Wyoming Primary Election simply did not make any sense. He further expressed his specific concern that our election was manipulated in favor of our current Governor, Matt Mead. Additionally, a half dozen other residents have also expressed such concern without having viewed the above identified U-Tube video. In order to address such concerns, and to ensure that our Sublette County election process is accurate, valid and real, I contacted the Sublette County Clerk, Mary Lankford on September 04, 2014 and verified that the county’s ballots have not been destroyed and that they are available for public review. I further reported to her my intention to obtain copies of these ballots per the state’s Public Records Act in order to conduct a manual physical recount of our county’s Republican Primary Election. I believe it is important to conduct such a physical review and recount in order: 1. To alleviate any concerns regarding the sanctity of our individual vote, as well as, to move forward in a positive and constructive manner to the General Election in November. 2. To identify any potential activity that should be aggressively pursued for criminal investigation and prosecution in the event any wrongdoing is identified. I fully anticipate that these concerns will be put to rest and that any unusual results during this Primary Election are due to other factors, such as our state’s liberal voting policy that allows changing party affiliation on the actual day of voting. Regardless, we have an obligation to the public to look into any election concerns and to fairly and impartially let the chips simply fall where they will.
