One of my favorite Summertime memories is that of the Soul Liberation Festival that was held in the parking lot of Park Ave Methodist Church in Minneapolis. These were some of my first experiences working sound. My most memorable Soul Lib experience was spending an entire day hanging out with a young Philip Bailey of Earth Earth, Wind & Fire, along with his wife and baby, Philip Jr. After sound check, we shot some hoops and ordered a couple of pizzas to kill time before the show. I knew who EWF was, but wasnt really a fan back then and certainly had no idea what a legend this guy would become. We were just hanging out, talking about music, sound and life. His wife was very sweet and I remember her telling me not to rush into getting married and having kids. :-) Great memories. #tbt Handt Hanson Gary Johnson
