One of my favorite bands and videos! Why? Because it is full of subliminal messages. The whole music video is about faking the Moon landing to the American population. Following the success of the USSR, that managed to send a man into space (cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961), the U.S. government had to realize at least an equally stunning success, in order to maintain their claimed technological superiority over the Soviets. A popular theory that ruminates online says that the renown film director Stanley Kubrick was asked by the CIA to fake the Moon landing using props left over from the making of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Since he was a perfectionist to this day most believe the U.S actually landed on the moon in 1969. Of course, Kubrick was forced to remain silent about the Apollo 11 Moon landing hoax, but he actually didnt. Throughout his following movies, he left subliminal messages for us to decipher and figure out the truth behind the authenticity of this historic event. There are innumerable references to The Shining/Kubrick movies also contained in this music video. 0:02 The opening scene with kid on the big wheels is a reference to Danny (kid in The Shining movie) doing the same thing. 0:17 This is an obvious one, the wallpaper behind the guy is identical to the one in The Shining. 0:24 Number of the house is 2001, a reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey movie. 0:32 The yellow Volkswagen Beetle matches the one Jack Nicholson that drove in The Shining. 0:35 Dueling pistol in the background maybe a Barry Lyndon reference. Not too sure about that one. 0:39 The twins are a reference to the twins that are appearing in The Shining. 0:49 I havent seen Eyes Wide Shut yet but the Snogard badge that the motorcyclist is wearing may be a reference to the freemasonry in the movie. 0:51 Route 237, reference to room 237 in The Shining. Also, the scenic overlook sign is a reference to the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. 0:53 Below the T.V it says Monolith, a reference to the monolith we see in 2001: A Space Odyssey. 1:05 Its an obvious HAL9000 reference. 1:59 The name of the shop where everybody is watching television is called Stan and Brick, as in STAN-ley Ku-BRICK. 2:01 Redrum, a direct reference to The Shining with Danny spouting redrum, which means murder written backwards 2:04 The Shining also hints the Native American genocide throughout the film. See Room 237 or some other Shining analysis online for more info on that. 2:16 It says Director S.K, the initials for Stanley Kubrick. 2:40 I think thats a representation of Kubrick from the late 60s, the U.S. government on his right is of course happy of the result and the CIA is behind him supervising the whole recordings. I presume there may be more! Try and find the subliminal messages throughout the video.
