One of my favorite hobbies, living in San Francisco, has been Robin Williams watching — he lives out here, and about a third of the people I know have run into him at one point or another. Im sitting in a San Francisco cafe right now and I cant believe that the odds of him walking through the door from now on is zero. I know a guy who claimed to have been at a local game store when Robin Williams and Billy Crystal got together in the back to play a Warhammer game with their enormous army of beautifully painted miniatures. Billy Crystal had Orcs with Hebrew letters carefully painted on their shields, versus Robin Williams and his Elves in their elaborately flamboyant colors. As they played, they even did the voices, the Orcs muttering in Yiddish and the Elves screaming like queens as they fired arrows into the sky. The world is simply a darker place for me, at least today, because that man will not be able to play that game again. And as for Robin Williams watching, Ill only ever be able to play the home game, with my TV.
