One of my favorite parts of my new job is having the opportunity to speak to youth and teenagers. In any community that hosts me, Ive committed to speaking to the ASPIRING LEADERS of the schools/organizations to give them PERSPECTIVE and helping them identify their SUPERPOWERS and inspire them to organize their lives around their strengths rather than focussing on their weaknesses, and avoid living with a constant comparison to others and trying to be liked by everyone. The fact is... everyone who steps up to the plate will be judged, and expectations will be placed upon them. You should be doing this! You should be doing that! (Oy vey welcome to the story of my life). Part of being a Conscious Capitalist is elevating any stakeholder who is tied into your business. Not only do I want my hosts to win, but I want the people of the community to win as well-- by watching me be myself-- and thereby giving themselves permission to be themselves, to stop comparing themselves to others, constantly seeing what everyone else is doing-- and to CREATE from a place that is unique. There is NO COMPETITION when you are serving from a place that is unique to you. Heres a clip of my amazing experience with some of the students of Nelson Mandela High School in Mount Vernon, just outside NYC. Right when I got up to speak, I knew these kids were going to make me work for their attention for them to hear my message. Any fluff, or BS would be called out immediately.
