One of my favorite songs of the 1960s went to #1 in the UK this week 50 years ago, the week of January 24th - 30th, 1965. From the only formed in Erdington, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England on May 4th, 1964 came The Moody Blues with a song originally recorded by soul singer Bessie Banks in January 1964 (and written in 1962 by Larry Banks and Milton Bennett) and with the bands second line-up of flautist, singer and composer Ray Thomas, keyboardist Michael Pinder, guitarist and lead vocalist Denny Laine, drummer (originally band manager) Graeme Edge and bassist Clint Warwick comes, that #1 song, Go Now! The Moody Blues would also take Go Now! to #2 in Canada, #10 in both The Netherlands and the U.S. and to #12 in Australia. Below the image of the band that originally appeared on rare for that time picture disc, is the promotional music video for The Moody Blues Go Now! which many have wondered since 10 years later whether even if unintentional whether another English band, Queen, had been influenced by The Moody Blues promotional music video for Queens video for Bohemian Rhapsody:
