One of my favoritist things is turning back in the sale. Some things I think I have learned. It is not showing. It is selling. ONE cow cut right and set up properly to show your horse has the skill set appropriate for their age is often all you need. On two and three year olds, helping them gives you the opportunity to show how correctable they are, along with responsive to your guidence. Broke to death is what you want to convey. Show how much there is to work with rather than trying to give a glimpse of a 220 hiding in there. If the bidding is stretching out, you have done all you can by working. Quit. Ride them around on display, give people a chance to get a 360 degree look. Stop and sit some. Show they will stand calm and ready. Show they are good on the ground. Basically demonstrate your horseman ship skills. Show people the horse came from a solid program. People are buying an image. They will picture themselves on that horse. Project a professional look. Be a mirror. And in my opinion, pulling the bridle off is a gimmick past its day. If you want to do that then just come in without it. THAT will really be impressive. Seriously consider getting someone who is good at this to ride your horse in.
