One of my fine piano students (age 8) also plays the cello. Accompanied him at his cello recital this afternoon. Due to another commitment, I had to leave right after he played. When he saw me leaving, he rocketed out of his chair and **THUD-THUD-THUD** ran across the stone floor towards me, as the next performer was getting into position. Was about to start one of those talks with him about forgetting the 3 years of concert etiquette training I KNOW hes had, when he 1) reached out to shake my hand 2) whispered thanks for coming 3) looked over his shoulder to make sure that the next performer was still in transition and not quite ready to start, and then 4) tiptoed back to his seat.
