One of my friends just posted this lovely piece of news....crap! Congress passed the $1.1 trillion 2015 federal budget bill: • Department of Defense garnering more than half of the overall budget: $585 billion. • The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had its budget cut by more than $60 million. It’s the fifth year of cuts for the embattled agency. Even before the cuts, staffing is already at its lowest levels in 25 years. • A provision of the Dodd-Frank that was designed to prevent the big banks from speculating using derivatives on deposits supported by the government by FDIC insurance was repealed. They did it by sticking in an amendment (written by Citibank) that had nothing to do with the budget. • Congress gave itself a boon by increasing the cap on donations to fund campaigns and parties by a huge margin. The bill ups the current cap of $32,400 to $777,600 per person per year; as written, married couples are treated separately and can contribute up to $1,555,200 per year.
