One of my friends posted her success in obtaining a new job. Her reservation is the starting wage, minimum wage. Wow could I spend a lot of time beating up on how institutionalized, limiting and really offending that is for our society. Instead I am going to focus on something more concrete and immediate to anyone who is working for a set wage. Years ago I was locked in that system as well, but you cannot let it define/contain/limit you, or it will. Hit well above your weight class, go for increasing value and tasking yourself above your wage grade consistently. Not just for a higher wage, but for your own self worth and growth. You will grow and develop out of that wage, either through advancement, or moving on. I get that self expressing your value and setting your own wage is not comfortable for some, and even if it holds no importance in your personal experience, dont define yourself by the numbers on your paycheck. At the very best possible valuation, they are simply an approximate exchange of your contribution. You are so much more than that number. Ideally you will find a fit that your gifts and values closely align with your tasks and the payoff will be far outpaced by any numerical measure.
