One of my friends (thank you Sue Ellen!) shared this from Positive Outlooks (a blog and FB page I love). We are in the midst of an Authentically You 2 Intensive Weekend where were working on our relationships with others. As part of our workshops, we create a circle where it is safe to share whatever may have happened or anything still going on in your life. The circle provides support, empathy, compassion and caring, as well as possible solutions. From that time of sharing, we see that everyone goes through trials and everyone has bad experiences. We are not the only ones who have ever experienced any adversity in life. Thats our ego talking if we believe that. When we see that we are more alike than different, we can then understand the actions and reactions of others. We all have pain weve suppressed and that pain can come out at anytime in reaction to another person. Knowing this helps not only ease our pain but relate to others, realizing their reactions are not because of us, they are because of the others pain and anger. That makes it much easier to not take things personally which in turn creates better relationships in this world. Its a win-win when you share or allow others to share. You feel better and you create better relationships. How can that be bad? Its not and the hope is that circles, community, book clubs, wherever you share can help change the world one little story at a time. Have a great day folks!
