One of my most strident arguments against the national conference was that it was going to be a duplicate of the National Assembly . My argument was if for example you told the people of Lagos to elect a representative to the National Conference one needed not be a genius to conclude that such a person would be a minion of the ruling party here, and ditto for every other part of the country... Thus creating a replica of the Nat Assembly! I thus concluded that we may as well utilise the national assembly for any changes we wanted in the polity....never did I once contemplate an unelected body...it was beyond my wildest imagination!!!!
