One of my neighbors (who lives around the corner) is a very nice man whose children are mostly grown and my age. I met him a while back while walking Iorek - he was walking his white and tan pibble (off-leash). Shed run near us but never ran up to us. We introduced the dogs at one point and walked back to our respective homes simultaneously while chatting. Went walking Tristan for his morning walk, and found that I left my SD card home from my camera and wasnt able to take photos. Its just as well because shortly into the walk, we came across that pibble laying down struggling. She was without her owner, and had clearly walked into a cholla patch as all four of he feet were bleeding from being cactus-poked, and her mouth was torn up from trying to get them out. I pull out my handy-dandy-pliers that I carry in case of Cholla assault, and get her de-chollad. Shes such a gentle girl that she let me work through her paws and mouth with no problem, Perry carried the camera for me, and Tristan stayed on command as usual. I then tied one end of Tristans leash to her collar and used his leash like a coupler and walked her home where her owners werent home, but their neighbor took her in until they came home (Ive seen them walk the dogs together before, so felt comfortable leaving her in the neighbors care.) Short, but eventful, walk. Perry did great as a nurse. She commented that I need to give her shots to make her feel better. (as she says about all dog-things after she accompanied me to volunteer at AAL one day and saw me give vaccines/was explained what vaccines are to the best of a toddlers comprehension level.) She carried my camera and gave the little dog the treat shed been holding onto for Tristan. I love that she is so in-tune with animal-things. She takes after her momma, for sure.
