One of my piano students has been studying Chopins Nocturne Op. 9 - TopicsExpress

One of my piano students has been studying Chopins Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2 in E flat major with me and doing very well with it. I was talking to him about the origins of the Nocturne and the Irish composer John Field, so we decided that he would also learn the Nocturne No. 1 in E flat. This would be a good comparison between Field and Chopins nocturnes. It is very pleasant, sounds rather like a musical box, quite a simple melody, with some of the similar types of grace notes and improvisatory runs you find in Chopins Nocturnes. Maybe I will perform some of John Fields music myself some day. youtube/watch?v=sBV_pTsom2Q
