One of my secret cooking tips: Whenever possible, substitute broth - TopicsExpress

One of my secret cooking tips: Whenever possible, substitute broth for water in a recipe. For example, use chicken broth when cooking rice instead of water. Im making three envelope roast now in the crockpot using beef broth instead of water. Why use water when you can add flavor using broth? And how to make canned green beans taste like you snapped them from the garden: Fully drain cans, place streaked meat, fatback, or whatever pork meat you like to season with in a sauce pot. Add drained beans. Further season to taste with sea salt, fresh cracked black pepper, and a teaspoon or two of sugar. Fill pot with chicken broth until beans are covered by about a half inch. Bring to boil, then put heat on low, cover, and simmer for at least an hour. Stir occasionally and add more broth if needed. Enjoy. 😋
