One of my students in Constitutional Law asked me question - TopicsExpress

One of my students in Constitutional Law asked me question yesterday [August 28, 2013] as to why Atty. Lorna Kapunan is defending her client Janet Lim-Napoles in re:"PDAF-SCAM CONTROVERSY". In my own point of view with respect to the foregoing query is that: It is the right of the lawyer to undertake the defense of a person accused of a crime regardless of his personal opinion as to the guilt of the accused , otherwise innocent persons, victims of inauspicious circumstances, might be denied proper defense. Having undertaken such defense, the lawyer is bound by all fair and honorable means to present every defense that the law of the land permits, to the end that no person may be deprived of life or liberty, but by due process of law. It applies to the principle in law that the accused is presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
