One of my very favorite things about a life in music crossing paths with incredible characters. Yesterday after our set at a farmers market in Wilmington, DE, a stocky, muscular dude struck up a conversation with me, praising our songs and signing our mailing list. He told me he had worked as a road traveler in the music business himself. When I pressed for details, he said hed worked for years as Bob Dylans personal bodyguard, and that Dylan had mentioned him in a Rolling Stone interview. Skeptical, I googled the name on the mailing list. Ill be damned up, down, and backwards if it wasnt the guy in this Letterman clip: welterweight boxer Bruce The Mouse Strauss. Dylan did indeed tell Rolling Stone about Strauss, claiming The Mouse could walk across an entire football field on his hands, so I feel pretty good about him telling me and Bryson that we looked physically fit.
