One of our themes at Sorrento Centre this year is “abundance” - TopicsExpress

One of our themes at Sorrento Centre this year is “abundance” and thanks to the hard work of Farmer Dave ( David Wides) and his staff we are enjoying the abundant goodness of the Sorrento Centre Farm’s produce right now. Farm produce is at its peak at the moment - cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, onions, beans and (of course) more zucchini than you can ask for or imagine! Ancient Romans celebrated a festival on this late August weekend centuries ago to honour the goddess Ops, goddess of the crops. Ops translates into “plenty” or “abundance” so let’s all give a nod of thanks for Ops’ blessings on us this year and join in the celebration of the festival of Opiconsivia. On the theme of abundance, here is a great hipster lip-synch video of one of my favourite songs, Cab Calloway’s 1947 hit “Everybody Eats When They Come To My House!”
