One of the BonaResponds mantras is that everyone is a role model. - TopicsExpress

One of the BonaResponds mantras is that everyone is a role model. Unless we live as hermits, everyone on earth is is both influenced and influences others. Whether we like it or not, the world is a different place because of what we do (and dont do). The senior (or graduate--sorry alumni) who brags about skipping class or getting drunk influences future generations of students that (s)he may never see. The angry parent who yells at his/her child, creates a child who will do the same. The entertainment and sports stars whose lives revolve around publicity, money, and parties become more of a role model than their strong arm, good voice, or beautiful body merit, lead to millions of their followers doing the same. I would like to put a dent in this. Our role models should be people that can help hold us during bad times and inspire us in good times: Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, Jand Goodall, Oscar Schindler, Bill Gates, and literally millions of others (known and unknown) that have made the world a better place. So starting today, I will be posting regular (if not daily) reports on deserving role models and heroes. (It will go at least until March when we will be having a true role model and hero speak at SBU--shhh...I cant announce it yet). It will be much like the recent #MLKQuotes series. I hope you enjoy and learn something from each and every one, but even if you dont, I know I will.
