One of the best elective courses I chose my senior year at North Penn High School. The highest rated school in the greater Philadelphia area. Was Mr Ribbles, business law and ethics course. He was a fascinating story teller and instructor. Teaching us how to read and understand financial news and statements. Assigning us a semester long, portfolio building and management course. I actually earned the most in the class with my diversified holdings. Turning my theoretical $25,000 into a little under $74,000 in approximately 6 months. Sticking with my original choices the entire time, with zero trade executions. Mr Ribbles stories, usually lasting almost the entirety of each class. Usually revolved around different experiences he had, had, as an entrepreneur and investor, with unethical people. His stories were entertaining and educational. He usually discovered his various foes nefarious motives early on and found creative ways to extract himself. Im extremely grateful for all of the extraordinary teachers and mentors Ive befriended over the last 30 years or so. Thankful for their priceless wisdom. Showing me how to decipher financial gibberish like this and understand what it means.
