One of the better films Ive seen from 2014. Benedict Cumberbatch - TopicsExpress

One of the better films Ive seen from 2014. Benedict Cumberbatch plays yet another tortured genius and plays it beautifully. I never get sick of watching his work. Kiera Knightley is solid support throughout and while I love her as an actress as a general rule, there was nothing particularly amazing about this performance or character she was playing (aside from being a woman in a time and profession that was run by all men). At least not enough to earn her Oscar nod for it... however I keep coming back to saying that this is a weak year for film all around. I still have yet to see Into the Woods but Im going to say its Patricia Arquettes year for Boyhood in the Supporting Actress race. Imitation Game was a solid film all around... it didnt wow me but it didnt get my hackles up either. Few Recommendations: Cousin Mark - Youll definitely dig it. You were the one who told me about Alan Turing. I remember you being excited about his pardon a few years back and here is a very solid dedication to his lifes work. Jean - we didnt see eye to eye on The Theory of Everything but I think you should get out to see this one when you can. Its another true story about a genius. Still a bit overly sentimental at times but overall quite good. Dan - I think youd really dig this movie... Im not entirely sure why... maybe the tortured genius aspect... maybe the British military intelligence angle. Not sure but I thought of you now for a recommendation. Lauren Ollman - Because Im pretty sure you are in love with Benedict Cumberbatch. Nick Romig - Because Im pretty sure you are in love with Benedict Cumberbatch. Brandon Lay - Because Im pretty sure you are in love with... wait....
