One of the complaints about wind energy is an interruption of landscape views. This has been a big part of the opposition to the Cape Wind Project in Massachusetts and one of the points that author Margaret Atwood has made about proposed wind farms in Canada. If you want to think more about the effect of energy production on landscapes, take a look at this site by L. David Roper. Its a group of pictures called Landscape Destruction due to Energy Extraction. It includes industrial energy facilities of all types. Several of the wind farms included are indeed quite large and daunting. However, it is quite thought-provoking to consider their relative minimal impact when placed alongside various types of drilling and mining. roperld/science/minerals/EnergyLandscapeDestruction.htm
