One of the exercises you will see on the mirrors this week is the DEADLIFT. Previously named the “Health” lift, this is without a doubt one of the most beneficial barbell exercises to master. Focusing on correct technique, and increasing the weight slowly will ensure that your whole body is strengthened from the ground up. - Start with the bar over the feet and a grip slightly outside shoulder width. - Keep your shoulders back and down and your chest up the whole time - As you lift the bar, imagine pushing the floor away from you with your feet - Finish tall in a standing position, pushing your hips forward and squeezing your glutes tight - Lower the weight the same way you lifted it. We cannot emphasise enough the importance of correct posture throughout this lift, so if youre not sure whether your spine is in a good position please ask a trainer. You dont want your deadlifts to do more harm than good! Check out Darren for an awesome example :)
