One of the funnest things about packing up all your stuff is coming across things you havent seen in years. Things you put in a box or a drawer that day so long ago for safe keeping or memory preservation. It can also be the most emotional. I dont have any kids of my own to pass down some of these things. So the toys I have from my childhood I will probably give to my grandniece. But there are those other things. The ones that are hard to explain as to why youve kept them. The ones that captured the energy of that one small moment in time that only you understand. Some have been easy to let go, others not so much, still. And then there are those boxes that havent been opened in years that I have no idea what is in them yet, that were just re-taped. So three months from now when we are getting our new house organized I will open a box with stuff wrapped in old newspaper and journey once again down memory lane, laughing and crying with each step and having to decide what to hold and what to let go.
