One of the games that I play in the car is to ask them to say two good things about the other one. Joshua named two good things about his sister and stopped. Faith would hee-haw and “give me a minute to think,” then she would tell me two good things about her brother followed by “but..” I would stop her. Then the question would be name two bad things about the other that need to change. Joshua would name two about Faith then stop. Faith would began without hesitation and began reciting a laundry list. Joshua would interrupt “Faith, Dad only said two.” Faith would say “Hush up, I’m not through. You need to hear this.” When I would ask them to say two good things about their mother they never stop at two. But when I would ask them to say two bad things about their mother that needed to change, there would be total silence in the car. And I’m not about to tell you what they say about me.
