One of the greatest film directors who ever lived (yet never received an Oscar), the Master of Suspense Alfred Hitchcock, was raised in the church but became disenchanted with religion. Once in Switzerland, he was driving through the countryside with a friend. As they passed a church, Hitchcock said to his friend, Look! There is a frightening sight.” His traveling companion was surprised to see nothing more alarming than a clergy with a Bible in his hand standing before a group of children on the church lawn, conducting an outdoor Bible class. “Run, kids, run for your life,” cried Hitchcock out the car window. Run for your life! At least here is someone who understood the revolutionary consequences of what it means to follow Jesus. Nothing can be the same again.
