One of the issues I really get concerned about is centred on this question: Who am I? Sometimes, I even get alarmed because when I see arguments flying around the social media about people taking a stand in favour of this and against that, it strikes me that they are adopting positions from the human frame of reference. Can I express a strong conviction that has established itself in me over many decades? I am not a liberal, conservative or moderate in a political sense, and as far as my citizenship is concerned – first and primary consideration is that I belong to the kingdom of God, have been identified as a Christian and intend to make that the essence of my existence more than my background of being an American citizen and with God’s help, people will readily see that in black and white as they observe the love of Jesus coursing through me to all of mankind. Does that mean I am not political or ashamed of my American background? Not a bit as while I live on this earth there are certain rules of engagement that I will keep conducting which is to be a voter in the political workings of my people in the USA. I also identify to the struggling children of this nation I live in called South Africa, and I am thrilled that apartheid no longer exists, but I also realize that standing for Jesus in this nation will not allow me to identify to the existing corruption which has become so pervasive on so many fronts. As a Christian, I also realize that it is acutely important to raise up a generation of people that Christ has become all and in all. Herein lays my identity.
