One of the largest and longest studies of mammography to date found that mammograms have absolutely no positive impact on breast cancer mortality while 22 percent of women screened will be exposed to false positives and unnecessary treatment. For women with dense breasts, mammograms are even less effective at accurately detecting cancer, while women with BRCA 1/2 mutation may be especially vulnerable to mammography radiation.
