One of the leaders in our movement posed a question recently asking where God is in this whole Ebola plague and another gave a witty answer that God is in one laboratory somewhere in Atlanta working through some scientists to produce a vaccine and permanent cure for the plague. This discourse set me thinking...I have seen some posts and newspaper reports recently about some Christians asking Ebola victims to come for some laying on hands drawing inference from the exploits of John G Lake. The issue with these perspective is in my opinion borders on ignorance of times and seasons as it has to do with God. Firstly John G Lake lived on this earth between 1870-1935; I can imagine the level of medical science as at time when the bubonic plague broke out, it is my belief that at such time God found a useful vessel to channel the healing power through to put a stop to it. I sense a situation here where believers have come to see divine healing as one circus or some stunt; I honestly believe that Jesus wont have had to walk on water if there were bridges and 24 hour transport service as we have today, he didnt do that as a power show. It breaks my heart to read about the Lagos state warning to the self styled Prophet TB Joshua not to take in any Ebola Virus patient into his camp and the presumptuous statement of my good friend at Trinity Church boasting of having the power to heal Ebola, John G Lake did not start the exploits on the tabloids, it became news after the exploit, this is how low the church has fallen. While I am not averse to divine healing, i believe that God is the author of science and it is his primary medium of healing today, the world will see more John G Lakes if Christian doctors and scientists generally will acknowledge that there training as as much spiritual as praying for the sick. What Pentecostals desperately need today is a brain, the Bible which I have read so much never said to abandon our minds but to renew it. The scientific breakthrough that makes it possible for women to conceive through insemination, that serum thats working some wonders on Dr Kent and Whitebol are definitely not from the devil, that doesnt seem to fit into his stealing, killing and destroying agenda; it looks to me more like the giving life abundantly agenda. I believe that the power that John G Lake accessed to do those exploits is still here, but the question is whether yielded & faithful vessels like John G Lake are still here. Just musing
