One of the lessons I have learned from living my life with, for and encompassed by animals is cautious optimism. It was cold and very windy this morning and Willow was agitated. Trotting around her enclosure nickering. Was it because I was late with her breakfast? Was it because of the high winds? Was it because the sheep were allowed in the orchard without her last night? I gave her breakfast and started taking vitals. She did not want her temp. taken. but settled down munching away at her breakfast. Her temp. Was 99.9. When I was done I took off her halter. I just sat with her enjoying her company. After a while she walked out of the manger and I thought she was ready for her grazing muzzle. But no. Down she went. I waited until she got up then turned her out to graze. Within a few minutes she was down again. She is down now and I am on my way out to pick up some oral antibiotics. 3 beautiful, sunny days of Willow happiness. We will be ever trying to give her more.
