One of the main difference between an RPG and a story (book series - TopicsExpress

One of the main difference between an RPG and a story (book series or movie) is that the former caters mostly to the main characters own first person point of view, while the latter covers multiple point of views without any limitations. As a DM, I always feel that the villains do not get a just amount of character development in an RPG environment. There is an entire parallel story that is missing from the plot because the characters arent aware of it, unless they get a report out. Usually that would be brief and to the point. I wish there was a way to build up the villains so that when a showdown happens, it feels like youve been following both sides culminating to a climatic ending. Do you have a creative way to do this in a game ?
