One of the major apathies of J&K sports in general and cricket in particular has been lack of career security. This is an irony that players form this very place,who have the honour of reaching highest levels in sports , are yet to have any decent and viable career option in J&K. while as Govt. of J&K is spending lacks and crores, in organizing futile Army, CRPF, police or other department sponsored tournaments. what job options are they providing to elite sportsmen? I know many of the elite players of the state who have brought a lot of laurels to the state in various sporting events, yet they are running from pillar to post for a simple govt. job. I ask what are the options for a sportsman who gives his life to the sport and when he is finished with the sport by the age of 35 to 40, he is left with nothing. This is the plight of elite players, what about hundreds of those who give life to the sport but are able to reach upto state level only and have no other source of livelihood to fallback upon.... yet our sportsbodies and sports deptts claim everyday that we are going to produce many more of Parveez Rasool s, Mehraj Uddin Wadoo s, Mithun manhas s, Abid Nabi s , Ahmed ishfaq s, Shubham khajurias....... But my question is , when there is no (and i mean this no as real no) career in sports , how can u expect middle and poor class children to choose sports as a carrier option?
