Like it or not, the Mail has by far the worlds biggest, most viewed newspaper website, which it has established without in any way weakening the strength of its newsprint product. No one else has managed this. Of course, one might say that the Sidebar of Shame - the relentless parade of micro-celebrity bullshit that runs down the right of the page - is a pretty sorry way to achieve this distinction. But if I were Lord Rothermere, contemplating the eventual sale price of Mail Online, I really wouldnt care ...
