One of the methods of biomass enrichment being used at ATamai is Bokashi composting. zingbokashi.co.nz/ Sonia shares: I have used the system for years, and find it ideal when you have little or no garden or compost system. Bokashi is a means of introducing anaerobic micro-organisms to organic waste material to start the composting process in a bucket. This means that food waste (i.e. nutrients) can be saved up for a few days or up to several weeks, without any unpleasant smells and fly problems. When emptied into a compost heap, or directly into soil, the organic material breaks down very quickly. Plants can be planted directly into it and grow spectacularly well, so it is a great way to establish a new garden. If you cant use it, your neighbours will be grateful for your donations of nutrients.
