One of the most amazing things about having a herd if horses and a pack of dogs is the ability to watch the dynamics of their behavior. When a new animal joins the herd, you get to see how consequence and discipline really works. It is the same for horses, donkeys, dogs and cats. The pecking order changes dramatically sometimes, the leadership skills are amazing to watch. This is basic nature, our society has moved backwards in the effort to move forward. Without consequence there is no discipline. It isnt different from one generation to the next. The differences are the results emanating from discipline that has lapsed. We see the results every day yet as a society fail to learn from it. Parents who do not praise when their child does something right or correct when they do something wrong because they want to be the good person are not helping prepare their child for the reality of the world. They are not giving them the experience to be able to deal with events that will happen in their lives. Animals prepare their offspring to survive in the hard world, human parents need to understand that their biggest gift to their children is the ability to know right from wrong, good from bad and how to make the best decision in a difficult situation. With age, comes experience. The ability to look back and learn from good and bad situations and use that experience to make an informed decision in the future. As much as a teenager might think they know all of the answers, they dont. They dont know how much they dont know. I was taught to respect my elders. I was taught to learn from them. I learn every day. I study the animals and learn so much from them. Maybe that is why I wont put up with Other peoples BS... If you ever get the chance, go and spend a day and watch herd or pack dynamics, especially if a new animal is introduced and has to establish their place in the dynamic. You will learn so much about life if you open your mind and understand what is happening.
